Ο῾μηρίδαι, memorantur Pindaro, et ex co Strabo l. 13. p. 645. Α᾿μφιςβητοῦ???ι δὲ καὶ Ο῾μήρου Χῖοι μαρτύριόν μεν τοὺς Ο῾μηρίδας καλουμένους, ἀπὸ δὲ τȏυ ἐκείνου γένους προχειριζόμενοι, ὧν καὶ Πίνδαρος μέμνηται. Ubi inter alia testimonia et argumenta, quibus Homerum Chii vindicabant, id non minimum fuisle, tradit, quod Homeridas haberent, familiam sc. hoc nomine veluti ab Homero descendentium. Quamvis enim duplices Homeridas faciant vert. Grammatici, atque inter eos Pindari Scholiastes, primo nempe eos, qui ab Homero genus arcesserent; deinde Ρ῾αψωδοὺς, qui carmina eius publice recitabant, quamvis ad Homeri genus nihil attinerent hoc tamen potius Ο῾μηριςτὰς vocari consuevisse, Aristocles apud Athen. docet. Homeridae itaque proprie Homeri ἐπίγονοι, seu posteri, quos et ipsos Homeri carmina per successionem tradita, ῥαψωδῆςαι, notum. Sane Cynaethus ille Chius, qui primus ea publicis conventibus recitasse fertur, Ο῾μηρίδης etiam fuit, vel saltem ab Homero genus suum iactavit etc. Salmas. ad Solin. p. 864. et 865. Vide quoque Iul.
